Walking In The Truth
“내가 내 자녀들이 진리 안에서 행한다 함을 듣는 것보다 더 기쁜 일이 없도다” (요삼 1:4)
진리는 사도 요한의 글의 중심 주제였습니다. 요한은 그의 첫 번째 서신에서만 진리라는 단어를 최소 열 번 사용하며 진리의 중요성을 나타냈습니다. 그는 세 번째 서신에서 형제들이 다른 사람들이 진리 안에서 행하는 것을 증언할 때 기쁨을 표현했습니다. 그는 “내가 내 자녀들이 진리 안에서 행한다 함을 듣는 것보다 더 기쁜 일이 없도다”라고 선포했습니다. 정말 놀랍습니다!
요한에게 진리가 중요한 이유는 무엇입니까? 주 예수님이 진리의 화신이시기 때문입니다. 하나님의 말씀은 진리입니다(요 17:17). 요한복음 1장 14절은 말합니다. “말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그의 영광을 보니 아버지의 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라” 그리고 이어서 17절은 말합니다. “율법은 모세로 말미암아 주어진 것이요 은혜와 진리는 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 온 것이라”
주님께서 요한복음 14장 6절에서 “내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니…”라고 말씀하신 것은 당연합니다. 진리는 단순히 원칙이나 추상적인 아이디어가 아닙니다. 진리는 한 인격, 곧 그리스도 예수입니다. 따라서 진리 안에서 행한다는 것은 그분 안에서 행하고 그분의 말씀으로 산다는 뜻입니다. 심지어 예배에서도 진리는 필수적입니다. 요한복음 4장 23-24절은 말합니다. “아버지께 참되게 예배하는 자들은 영과 진리로 예배할 때가 오나니 곧 이 때라 아버지께서는 자기에게 이렇게 예배하는 자들을 찾으시느니라 하나님은 영이시니 예배하는 자가 영과 진리로 예배할지니라”
아버지께서는 삶이 진리와 일치하는 예배자를 찾으십니다. 그리고 이를 가능하게 하기 위해 우리에게 진리의 영이신 성령을 주셨습니다. “그러나 진리의 성령이 오시면 그가 너희를 모든 진리 가운데로 인도하시리니…”(요 16:13) 당신이 성령님께 자신을 내어드린다면 절대 속거나 잘못된 길로 가지 않을 것입니다. 성령님은 그리스도의 것을 취하여 우리에게 보여주십니다. 그리스도가 진리이시기 때문입니다(요 16:14).
그러므로 진리 안에서 행하는 것은 단지 정직하게 사는 것보다 훨씬 더 많은 것을 의미합니다. 그것은 그리스도, 그분의 말씀, 진리의 영의 인도를 따라 사는 것입니다. 그리고 우리는 진리로부터 났기 때문에 진리 안에서 행합니다. 할렐루야!
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 진리를 알고 행하는 축복에 감사드립니다. 나를 날마다 하나님의 완전한 뜻으로 인도하시는 진리의 성령님께 감사드립니다. 나는 그 안에서 행하고 이 땅에서 하나님의 목적을 성취합니다. 내 삶은 오늘도 그리고 항상 하나님의 영광을 위한 것입니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

WALKING IN THE TRUTH
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth” (3 John 1:4).
Truth was a central theme in the writings of the Apostle John. In his first epistle alone, he used the word truth at least ten times, an indication of its importance. In his third epistle, he expressed his delight when the brethren testified of others walking in the truth. He declared, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” That’s remarkable!
Why was truth so important to John? It’s because the Lord Jesus Himself is the embodiment of truth. God’s Word is truth (John 17:17). John 1:14 says, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” Then the 17th verse says, “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
No wonder the Master said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life….” Truth is not merely a set of principles or abstract ideas; it’s a person, Christ Jesus. To walk in truth, therefore, is to walk in Him and live by His Word. Even in worship, truth is indispensable. John 4:23-24 says, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
The Father seeks worshippers whose lives align with truth. And to make this possible, He gave us the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of truth: “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13). You’ll never be deceived or walk in error if you yield to Him. He takes the things of Christ, because Christ is the truth, and reveals them to you (John 16:14).
So, walking in truth is much more than just living honestly; it’s living in alignment with Christ, His Word, and the guidance of the Spirit of truth. And we walk in truth because we’re of the truth. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the blessedness of knowing and walking in the truth. Thank you for the Spirit of truth who guides me daily in your perfect will, to walk therein and fulfil your purpose in the earth. My life is for your glory, today and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
