“나의 기도가 주의 앞에 분향함과 같이 되며 나의 손 드는 것이 저녁 제사 같이 되게 하소서” (시 141:2)
사역의 영성과 하나님의 집에서 음악과 경배가 차지하는 위치를 이해하는 것은 중요합니다. 예를 들어, 많은 사람이 교회에서 익숙하게 치는 박수는 찬양도 경배도 아닙니다. 박수 자체가 문제는 아니지만, 박수는 적절한 맥락 안에 있어야 합니다.
박수는 환호입니다. 이는 동의 또는 고조된 감정의 표현입니다. 그러나 영적으로 박수는 하나님을 찬양하거나 경배하는 것과 같지 않습니다. 아마 “예수님을 위해 박수칩시다”라고 말하는 사람들을 들어보셨을 것입니다. 그러나 박수는 성경이 우리에게 가르치는 경배나 찬양의 방식이 아닙니다. 진정한 경배는 말과 성령의 노래와 하나님을 경외하는 마음으로 손을 들어 표현합니다.
예를 들어, 오늘의 본문 구절에서 손을 드는 것이 천국에서 인정받는 경배의 행위임을 알 수 있습니다. 그러나 박수를 치는 것이 찬양이나 경배의 행위라고 말하는 성경 구절은 없습니다. 수년 전, 돌아가신 케네스 해긴 목사님은 주 예수님이 그에게 나타나셔서 “박수는 찬양도 경배도 아니다”라고 말씀하신 환상을 나누셨습니다. 많은 사람이 이를 오해하고 케네스 해긴 목사님이 박수를 치는 것이 잘못되었다고 말했다고 생각했습니다. 그러나 그는 단순히 박수의 올바른 역할을 설명한 것입니다. 박수는 경배가 아닙니다.
기적이 일어나고 사람들이 박수를 친다면, 그들은 하나님을 찬양하는 것이 아닙니다. 그들은 동의나 고조된 감정을 표현하는 것입니다. 문제는 그렇게 하면서 때때로 그들은 하나님께서 기적의 결과로 받으실 실제 경배를 드리는 것을 소홀히 한다는 것입니다. 이것이 바로 우리가 말씀으로 가르침을 받아야 하는 이유입니다. 경배는 언제나 습관이 아닌 지식에 뿌리를 두어야 합니다.
따라서 박수는 어떤 일에 대한 인간적인 반응으로서의 역할을 하지만, 참된 찬양과 경배는 당신의 영으로부터 나와야 하며, 당신의 말, 노래, 손을 드는 것, 성경이 말하는 다른 경배의 표현을 통해 나타나야 합니다. 이것이 주님을 영화롭게 하는 일입니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 참된 예배에 대한 이해와 우리가 성령 안에서 예배하고, 그리스도 예수 안에서 기뻐하고, 육신을 신뢰하지 않는 참된 할례자라는 계시를 주시니 감사합니다. 지금도 나는 마음 깊은 곳에서 하나님을 예배합니다. 당신은 유일하신 참 하나님이시기 때문입니다. 하나님은 의로우시고, 거룩하시고, 공의로우시고, 은혜로우시고, 순수하시고, 친절하십니다. 내 삶에 나타난 하나님의 영광에 감사드립니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

WE DON’T CLAP TO PRAISE GOD
“Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice” (Psalm 141:2).
It’s important to understand the spirituality of ministry and the place of music and expressions of worship in the house of God. Clapping, for instance, which many are very used to in church, is neither praise nor worship. While clapping is not wrong, it must be put in its proper place.
Clapping is applause; it’s a sign of approval or excitement. Spiritually, however, it doesn’t equate to praising or worshipping God. You’ve probably heard people say, “Let’s clap for Jesus.” But clapping is not how the Bible teaches us to worship or praise the Lord.
True worship is expressed with words, songs of the Spirit, and the lifting of our hands in reverence to God. For example, we saw from our opening scripture that the lifting of hands is an act of worship, recognized in heaven. The New Testament praise and worship is in spirit and truth, as Jesus said the Father desires (John 4:23-24).
When a miracle happens, and people clap, they’re not praising God; they’re expressing approval or excitement. The danger is that in doing so, they sometimes neglect to give God the actual worship He deserves as a result of such a miracle. This is why we must be instructed by the Word. Worship must always be rooted in knowledge, not habit.
So, while clapping has its place as a human response to events, true praise and worship must come from your spirit, expressed through your words, songs, the lifting of your hands, and other expressions in worship that the Bible talks about. This is what glorifies the Lord.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the understanding of true worship and the revelation that we are the true circumcision that worship you in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh. Even now, I worship you from the bottom of my heart, for you’re the only true God; righteous, holy, just, gracious, pure and kind. Thank you for your glory in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
