하나님은 당신이 성장하기를 원하십니다
He Wants You To Grow Up
“은혜와 우리 주요 구주이신 예수 그리스도를 아는 지식 안에서 자라가라. 영광이 이제와 영원토록 그에게 있을지어다. 아멘.”(벧후 3:18, 한글 킹제임스)
당신이 주님과의 동행에서 성장한 지금보다 당신이 어릴 때 더 빨리 기도 응답을 받았던 이유에 대해 생각해 본 적이 있습니까? 어쩌면 당신은 잘못 기도했음에도 불구하고 하나님께서 항상 응답해 주셨을 것입니다. 맞습니다. 당신이 영적 아기였기 때문에 하나님께서 응답해 주신 것입니다.
하나님은 그러한 기도가 옳기 때문에 응답하시는 것이 아니라, 어린아이들에게 성장할 기회를 주시기 위해 응답하십니다. 얼마 후, 그들에게 효과가 있던 것이 더 이상 효과가 없게 될 것입니다. 그들이 더 이상 젖을 먹지 말아야 하기 때문입니다. “이는 젖을 먹는 자마다 어린아이니 의의 말씀을 경험하지 못한 자요”(히 5:13)
당신이 그리스도 안에서 성장할수록 하나님은 당신을 더 진지하게 받아들이십니다. 당신이 말하고 행하는 일, 당신이 말하고 듣는 말, 당신의 사고 방식, 성경에 대한 당신의 생각, 당신이 기도하는 방식과 내용 등이 중요해집니다. 당신은 우리가 예수 이름으로 예수님께 기도하지 않는다는 것을 발견하게 됩니다. 우리는 예수 이름으로 아버지께 기도합니다.
우리는 기도할 때마다 “그분께 나아가지” 않습니다. 당신이 그리스도께 마음을 드리고 거듭난 날, 당신은 그분께 나아갔습니다. 죄인은 “오 주님, 제가 예수 이름 안에서 당신께 나아갑니다”라고 말할 수 있습니다. 그는 밖에 있기 때문입니다. 그러나 당신은 그분 안에 있습니다. 당신은 그분 안에 살고 있습니다. 어린 혹은 육신적인 그리스도인에게는 큰 의미가 없을 수 있지만, 이는 엄청난 영적 의미를 가지고 있습니다.
성경은 말합니다. “단단한 음식은 장성한 자의 것이니 그들은 지각을 사용함으로 연단을 받아 선악을 분별하는 자들이니라”(히 5:14) 당신이 성장하여 말씀을 올바르게 적용하기 시작하면 더 이상 삶의 기복을 경험하지 않게 될 것입니다. 당신의 삶은 믿음에서 믿음으로, 은혜에서 은혜로, 영광에서 영광으로 가득할 것입니다. 할렐루야!
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 내 생명이자 내가 보는 빛인 하나님의 말씀에 감사드립니다. 나는 말씀의 능력에 나를 내어드리며, 말씀은 내 삶의 모든 영역에서 나를 변화시키고 세워주며, 그리스도 안에 있는 나의 유업을 전달해 줍니다. 하나님의 영광이 내 삶에 나타나며, 나는 끊임없이 하나님을 아는 지식 가운데 하나님의 형상으로 변화되고 새로워집니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

HE WANTS YOU TO GROW UP
“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18).
Have you ever pondered why, as a younger Christian, it seemed your prayers received quicker answers compared to now that you’ve grown in your walk with the Lord? Maybe you even prayed incorrectly and yet God always answered you. Yes, He answered you because you were a spiritual infant.
God answers such prayers, not because they’re right, but because He’s giving the babes some space to grow. After a while, what used to work for them at that level won’t work anymore because they have to stop feeding on milk. “For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.” (Hebrews 5:13).
As you grow in Christ, God starts taking you more seriously. The things you say and do—the words you speak, the words you hear, how you reason, what you think about the Scriptures, how you pray and the content of your prayers, etc.—will begin to matter. You discover we don’t pray to Jesus in the Name of Jesus; rather, we pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus.
We also don’t “come to Him” every time we pray. The day you gave your heart to Christ to be born again, you came to Him. The sinner can say, “Oh Lord, I come to you in the Name of Jesus” because he was out. But you are in Him; you live in Him. To a young or carnal Christian, these things may not mean much but they bear great spiritual significance.
The Bible says, “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14). When you grow up and start applying the scriptures rightly, you’ll discover that you’ll no longer experience ups and downs in life. Your life will be from faith to faith, grace to grace, and glory to glory. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for your Word, which is my life and the light by which I see. I’m yielded to its power to transform and build me up in every area of my life, delivering to me my inheritance in Christ. Your glory is revealed in my life, constantly transfiguring and renewing me more and more in knowledge into your image, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
