Baptism – A Testimony Of Your Faith In Christ
“네가 만일 네 입으로 예수를 주로 시인하며 또 하나님께서 그를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 것을 네 마음에 믿으면 구원을 받으리라”(롬 10:9)
어떤 사람들은 물 침례가 죄인을 구원하기에 충분한지 묻습니다. 그러나 성경은 예수 그리스도를 믿고 그분을 주로 고백함으로 구원받는다고 분명히 말합니다. 물 침례는 중요하지만 죄의 용서를 주지는 않습니다. 물 침례는 그리스도를 향한 믿음의 증거입니다.
예를 들어, 베드로전서 3:21에서 성경은 물 침례에 대해 말합니다. 이는 육체의 더러운 것을 제하는 것이 아니라 하나님을 향한 선한 양심의 응답입니다. “물은 예수 그리스도의 부활하심으로 인하여 이제 우리를 구원하는 모형이니, 곧 침례라.(이것은 육체의 더러움을 제거하는 것이 아니라 하나님을 향한 선한 양심의 응답이라.)”(한글 킹제임스)
죄로부터의 진정한 깨끗함은 예수 그리스도의 피를 통해 옵니다. 침례는 예수님께 일어난 일, 즉 그분의 죽음, 장사됨, 부활에 대한 믿음의 공개적인 증거입니다. 사람들이 물에서 침례를 받을 때, 그들은 물에 잠기는 것으로 그리스도의 죽음과 동일시되고, 물에서 나오는 것으로 그분의 부활과 동일시됩니다. 이는 예수 그리스도의 죽음, 장사됨, 부활에 대한 그들의 믿음을 나타냅니다.
물 침례 자체가 구원을 가져다주지는 않습니다. 거듭나지 않은 사람은 침례를 받았더라도 여전히 잃어버린 자입니다. 성경은 구원이 예수 그리스도의 죽음, 장사됨, 부활을 믿는 믿음을 통해 온다고 분명히 말합니다. 침례는 그 믿음의 외적인 표현입니다.

BAPTISM—A TESTIMONY OF YOUR FAITH IN CHRIST
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9).
Some have asked if Water Baptism is enough to save a sinner. But from the Scriptures, it’s clear that salvation comes by believing in Jesus Christ and confessing Him as Lord. Water Baptism, while significant, doesn’t provide the remission of sins, but it’s a testimony of one’s faith in Christ.
In 1 Peter 3:21 for example, the Bible talks about Water Baptism, not as the removal of the filth of the flesh, but as the answer of a good conscience toward God: “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 3:21).
The real cleansing from sin comes through the blood of Jesus Christ. Baptism is a public testimony of faith in what happened to Jesus—His death, burial, and resurrection. When people are baptized in water, they symbolically identify with Christ’s death as they are immersed in water, and with His resurrection as they are brought out of the same water. This signifies their faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Water Baptism, in itself, doesn’t bring salvation. A person can be baptized and still be lost if they have not been born again. The Bible makes it clear that salvation comes through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Baptism is an outward expression of that faith.
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of salvation through the precious blood of Jesus Christ. I declare my faith in His death, burial, and resurrection, and I live in the consciousness of this glorious truth. My life is a testimony of my union with Christ, and I walk daily in the victory of His resurrection, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
