A Heart That Beats With Compassion
“애통하는 자는 복이 있나니 그들이 위로를 받을 것임이요”(마 5:4)
오늘의 본문 구절에서 주 예수님은 슬픔으로 애통해하는 사람들을 말씀하신 것이 아닙니다. 오히려 그분은 선지자들의 언어를 사용하여 예언적으로 말씀하셨습니다. 구약에서 선지자들이 애통해한 것은 개인적인 슬픔 때문이 아니었습니다. 그들은 하나님의 백성들의 상태, 예를 들어 불순종, 포로 상태, 영적 타락 때문에 애통해했습니다. 그들은 사람들의 영혼과 하나님의 이름의 영광을 위해 중보하며 부르짖었습니다.
따라서 주 예수님께서 “애통하는 자는 복이 있나니”라고 말씀하셨을 때, 그분은 하나님을 움직이는 일들로 인해 마음이 움직이는 사람들을 의미하신 것입니다. 이러한 애통함은 사랑과 긍휼함에서 비롯됩니다. 이는 자신을 위한 슬픔이 아니라 다른 사람을 위한 경건한 슬픔이며, 사람들과 나라들의 영적 상태에 대한 중보로 나타나는 반응입니다.
예를 들어, 누군가가 교회에 가는 것을 멈췄거나 믿음이 식었다는 소식을 들으면 당신의 마음이 아파옵니다. 그래서 그를 판단하지 않고 그를 위해 기도합니다. 당신은 주님 앞에서 울며 그의 회복을 위해 부르짖습니다. 하나님께 감사드립니다! 주님은 이렇게 애통하는 자들, 다른 사람들을 위해 기도하며 우는 자들이 위로를 받을 것이라고 보장하십니다.
위로는 응답이 나타날 때, 그 사람이 회복되는 것을 볼 때, 그들의 삶이 변화되고 상황이 역전되는 것을 볼 때 찾아옵니다. 중보는 하나님의 마음을 움직입니다. 기도 중에 말이 멈추고 눈물이 대신 말할 때가 있습니다. 이는 영혼을 위한 깊은 고통의 일부입니다. 짐이 너무 무거워서 당신이 할 수 있는 일은 깊은 한숨과 많은 눈물의 중보뿐인 순간들이 있습니다(롬 8:26).
그리고 당신이 눈물을 흘릴 때, 성령의 능력이 역사합니다. 저는 그것을 여러 번 경험했습니다. 저는 수년 동안 기도한 사람들의 이름을 기록해 두었고, 그들 중 일부는 오늘날 복음의 사역자이자 교회의 지도자입니다. 어떤 사람들은 나쁜 태도를 가지고 있었습니다. 어떤 사람들은 일관성이 없었습니다. 어떤 사람들은 사업이나 신앙에서 어려움을 겪고 있었습니다. 저는 그들의 이름을 적고 눈물로 그들을 중보했습니다.
그러나 오늘날 그들의 변화를 보며 나는 기뻐하고 위로를 받습니다. 다른 사람들을 향한 당신의 심장이 깊은 연민으로 뛰고 있다면, 당신은 하나님의 심장과 일치하고 있는 것입니다. 당신의 중보는 세상에 하나님의 위로와 변화를 가져오는 통로가 됩니다. 그러므로 당신의 심령을 부드럽게 하십시오. 긍휼함이 당신을 기도로 이끌게 하십시오.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 잃어버린 자, 연약한 자, 방황하는 자를 사랑과 열정으로 중보하는 아버지의 긍휼로 뛰는 심장을 주셔서 감사합니다. 나의 기도를 통해 생명이 변화되고 회복되며 하나님의 왕국이 강력하게 전진합니다. 응답된 기도의 위로와 기쁨에 감사드립니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

A HEART THAT BEATS WITH COMPASSION
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4).
In the opening scripture, the Lord Jesus wasn’t referring to people mourning out of sorrow; rather, He was speaking prophetically, using the language of the prophets. In the Old Testament, when prophets mourned, it wasn’t over personal grief. They mourned because of the state of God’s people, for example, their disobedience, captivity, or spiritual decline. They cried out in intercession, burdened for the souls of men and the honour of God’s name.
So, when the Lord Jesus said, “Blessed are they that mourn,” He was referring to those whose hearts are moved by the things that move God. This kind of mourning is born of love and compassion. It’s not sorrow for self, but godly sorrow for others, an intercessory response to the spiritual condition of people and nations.
For example, you hear that someone has stopped going to church, or that a Christian has grown cold in their faith, and then your heart aches; not in judgment, but in prayer. You weep before the Lord, crying out for their restoration. And thanks be unto God! The Lord assures that those who mourn like this, those who weep in prayer for others, shall be comforted.
The comfort comes when the answers manifest, when you see that person restored, when you see their lives changed, and their situations turned around. Intercession moves the heart of God. There’re times in prayer when words fail and tears speak; it’s part of the deep travail for souls. There’re moments when the burden is so strong that all you can let out are deep sighs and profuse tears of intercession (Romans 8:26).
And as you weep, the power of the Spirit goes into operation. I have experienced that many times. I have files with names of people I’ve prayed for through the years, some of whom today are ministers of the Gospel and leaders in the churches. Some had bad attitudes; some were inconsistent; others faced struggles in their business or faith. I wrote their names down and interceded for them with tears.
But today, seeing their transformation, I rejoice; I’m comforted. When your heart beats deeply with compassion for others, you align yourself with the very heart of God. Your intercession becomes His channel of comfort and change in the world. So, let your heart be tender. Let compassion move you to prayer.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for giving me a heart that beats with your compassion to always intercede with passion and love for the lost, the weak, and the straying. Through my prayers, lives are changed, restored, and your kingdom advances mightily. Thank you for the comfort and joy of answered prayer, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
