“사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 자기 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 유익하리요” (막 8:36)
하나님께는 한 영혼이 이 세상의 모든 부와 자원과 권세보다 더 귀합니다. 놀라운 진리이지만 이것이 왕국의 가치의 실재입니다. 그 무엇도 인간 영혼의 가치와 비교할 수 없습니다. 성경은 말합니다. “하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니 이는 그를 믿는 자마다 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이라”(요 3:16)
주 예수님은 이 세상의 시스템, 건물, 자연 환경을 위해 죽지 않으셨습니다. 그분은 사람들을 위해 죽으셨습니다. 당신이 만나는 모든 영혼은 영원한 가치를 지니고 있습니다. 배경이나 행동과 상관없이 모든 사람은 하나님께 매우 중요합니다. 그들의 가치는 예수 그리스도의 보혈입니다. “너희가 알거니와 너희 조상이 물려 준 헛된 행실에서 대속함을 받은 것은 은이나 금 같이 없어질 것으로 된 것이 아니요 오직 흠 없고 점 없는 어린 양 같은 그리스도의 보배로운 피로 된 것이니라”(벧전 1:18-19)
당신이 한 영혼의 가치를 진정으로 이해할 때, 전도는 의무 그 이상이 됩니다. 전도는 사랑의 사명이 됩니다. 당신은 잃어버린 자들을 위해 울게 될 것입니다. 그들을 위해 기도할 것입니다. 그들에게 다가가기 위해 당신의 편안한 영역을 벗어나게 될 것입니다. 마귀는 사람들이 명성, 부, 쾌락에 정신이 팔려 영원을 잊어버리기를 원합니다. 그러나 하나님의 자녀로서 당신은 겉으로 보이는 것 이상을 볼 수 있어야 합니다. 모든 영혼을 다시 찾아와야 할 보물로 여기십시오.
성경은 우리에게 한 영혼의 가치에 대해 더 알려주기 위해 이렇게 말합니다. “… 죄인 한 사람이 회개하면 하늘에서는 회개할 것 없는 의인 아흔아홉으로 말미암아 기뻐하는 것보다 더하리라”(눅 15:7) 생각해 보십시오. 하늘이 회개하는 한 죄인으로 인해 기뻐한다면, 우리는 그 일이 반복해서 일어나도록 얼마나 더 수고해야 하겠습니까? 그러므로 영혼 구원을 당신의 습관과 삶의 방식으로 삼으십시오. 사람들을 구출하십시오. 영혼을 어둠에서 빛으로, 사탄의 권세에서 하나님께로 옮기십시오. 그보다 더 보람 있는 일은 없습니다.
기도
하늘 아버지, 사람들을 하나님이 보시는 방식으로 볼 수 있도록 내 눈을 열어 주셔서 감사합니다. 영혼의 참된 가치를 알고 인식하도록 도와주셔서 감사합니다. 이 진리를 아는 것은 잃어버린 자들을 향한 긍휼로 내 마음을 불타오르게 합니다. 나는 열정적으로 복음을 전하며 그들을 어둠의 권세에서 하나님의 놀라운 빛으로 옮깁니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

THE VALUE OF A SOUL
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).
To God, one soul is worth more than all the wealth, resources and power in the world. That’s a staggering truth, yet it’s the reality of Kingdom value. Nothing compares to the worth of a human soul. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
The Lord Jesus didn’t die for the systems, buildings and vegetation of the world; He died for people. Every soul you meet carries eternal value. Every person, regardless of background or behaviour, matters deeply to God. Their value is the blood of Jesus Christ: “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19).
When you truly grasp the value of a soul, evangelism becomes more than a legality; it becomes a love mission. You’ll weep over the lost. You’ll pray for them. You’ll go out of your comfort zone to reach them. The devil wants people distracted by fame, wealth, and pleasure so they forget eternity. But as a child of God, you must see beyond the surface. See every soul as a treasure waiting to be reclaimed.
To further let us know the value of a soul, the Bible says, “…joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance” (Luke 15:7). Think about it: If all heaven rejoices over one sinner that repents, how much more should we labour to see it happen again and again. Therefore, make soul winning your habit and lifestyle. Rescue destinies. Deliver the souls of men from darkness into light, and from the power of Satan unto God. Nothing could be more fulfilling.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank you for opening my eyes to see people the way you see them. Thank you for helping me appreciate and recognize the true value of a soul; this makes my heart burn with compassion for the lost, as I passionately preach the Gospel, delivering them from the domain of darkness into your marvellous light, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
