당신의 우선순위를 잊지 마십시오
Don’t Forget Your Priorities
“내가 오늘 네게 명하는 여호와의 명령과 법도와 규례를 지키지 아니하고 네 하나님 여호와를 잊어버리지 않도록 삼갈지어다”(신 8:11)
주님을 위해 우리가 무엇을 해야 하는지 잊어버리기 쉽습니다. 개인뿐 아니라 교회도 마찬가지입니다. 교회 역시 우선순위를 잊어버릴 수 있습니다. 교회 역사를 보십시오. 교회가 세워진 지 3세기 만에 온 세상을 장악했습니다. 이는 통신과 교통이 매우 느렸던 시절에 이룬 놀라운 성과였습니다.
서기 324년 콘스탄틴 황제는 기독교인에 대한 박해를 금했고, 6년 후인 330년에 기독교를 세계의 종교로 선포했습니다. 교회는 이에 대해 기뻐했지만 어떤 이유에서인지 너무 안일해졌습니다. 모든 것이 괜찮아 보였기 때문에 그들은 전도의 긴급성을 느끼지 못했습니다. 그들은 “모두가 종교를 가지고 있다”고 생각했지만, 예수님은 종교를 세우기 위해 오신 것이 아닙니다. 그분은 사람들이 진정으로 구원받기를 원하셨습니다.
따라서 우리의 우선순위를 항상 재평가하는 것이 중요합니다. 이스라엘 백성들은 그들의 우선순위를 잊었습니다. 성경은 하나님께서 그들에게 약속하신 땅을 어떻게 주셨는지 알려줍니다. 하나님은 그들에게 안식을 주셨습니다. 그 땅에는 평화가 있었고, 모든 것이 좋았습니다(수 21:43-45). 그러나 하나님은 여호수아 23:7-8에서 그들에게 경고하셨습니다. “너희 중에 남아 있는 이 민족들 중에 들어 가지 말라 그들의 신들의 이름을 부르지 말라 그것들을 가리켜 맹세하지 말라 또 그것을 섬겨서 그것들에게 절하지 말라 오직 너희의 하나님 여호와께 가까이 하기를 오늘까지 행한 것 같이 하라”
이스라엘 백성들은 한동안 이 경고에 주의를 기울였지만, 결국 휩쓸려 이방 신들을 섬기기 시작했습니다. 이는 우리가 영혼을 구원하지 않을 때 일어나는 일입니다. 교회가 세속화되기 시작합니다. 곧 우리는 그들의 매력적인 직업 제안과 군침 도는 사업에 관심을 갖기 시작합니다. 그들은 우리가 영혼 구원자라는 사실을 잊어버릴 때까지 우리를 계속 끌어당깁니다.
그리스도인들 중에는 주일에 출근해야 해서 교회에 갈 수 없는 사람들도 있습니다. 사업이 번창해서 늘 출장을 가야 하기 때문에 교회에 오지 않는 사람들도 있습니다. 그런 사람들은 자신의 우선순위를 잊어버린 것입니다. 세상이 당신을 끌어당기지 못하게 하십시오. 당신의 우선순위를 잊지 마십시오. 그리스도와 영적인 일들에 대한 당신의 교제와 헌신의 거룩함을 유지하십시오. 계속해서 영혼을 구원하십시오. 당신은 그리스도인입니다. 삶의 모든 영역에서 당신이 그리스도인이라는 사실이 분명하게 나타나게 하십시오.

영광스러운 복음을 전하는 것이 얼마나 기쁜 일인지요! 나의 우선순위는 이 땅에서 하나님의 왕국을 확장하는 것입니다. 나는 어떤 것도 내가 사람들을 어둠에서 빛으로, 사탄의 권세에서 하나님께로 돌이키고, 그들을 하나님의 영원한 왕국의 시민으로 만드는 일에 에너지를 쏟는 것을 방해하지 못한다고 선포합니다. 아멘.

DON’T FORGET YOUR PRIORITIES
“Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day” (Deuteronomy 8:11).
It’s very easy to forget what you’re supposed to be doing for the Lord. I’m not just referring to individuals; even the Church in general can forget its priorities. Look at Church history; it only took three centuries from the inception of the Church for it to dominate the whole world. This was a phenomenal accomplishment in a day when communication and transportation were very slow.
In 324 AD, Emperor Constantine abolished the persecution of Christians, and just six years later, by 330 AD, he declared Christianity the religion of the world. The Church was happy about this and for some reason, became too relaxed. They didn’t see the urgency for evangelism because everything seemed fine. “Everyone’s kind of religious,” they thought, but Jesus didn’t come to establish a religion; He wanted men truly saved.
Thus, it’s important to always reappraise our priorities. The children of Israel forgot their priorities. The Bible tells us how God gave them the land He promised them. With it, He gave them rest; there was peace, and everything was fine. (Joshua 21:43-45). He however gave them a warning in Joshua 23:7-8: “That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them: But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.”
The Israelites tried to heed this warning for a while, but eventually got carried away and began to serve pagan gods. That’s what happens when we’re not winning souls: the Church begins to get worldly. Soon enough, we start getting interested in their attractive job offers and mouth-watering businesses. They keep pulling us until we start forgetting that we’re supposed to be soul winners.
That’s when you see Christians who can’t come to church because they have to go to work on Sundays. Some stop coming to church because business is booming and they always have to travel. Such people have forgotten their priorities. Don’t let the world pull you to its attractions; don’t forget your priorities. Maintain the sanctity of your fellowship and devotion to Christ and to spiritual things. Keep winning souls. You’re first and foremost a Christian; let that be evident in everything about your life.

What a joy to preach the glorious Gospel! The expansion of God’s Kingdom in the earth is my top priority, and I declare that nothing will distract me from channelling my energies towards turning men from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, making them citizens of God’s eternal Kingdom.
